| The factory stator plate has enlongated screw openings that you can slide to advance/retard your ignition. If you want more, take a dremel & grind them wider so it can slide more to one direction. Anyone know whitch way to slide the plate to advance the ignition on the lt250r's?

| Easiest way to tell that I know of would be to pull the cover on the stator side and slowly crank of the motor. And move the plate the opposite way the crank spins. That would give you advance.

| The lt's (at least the 500's) seem to have alot of advance in the ignition as is. Hell I have mine retarded as far as it goes and I may still need to turn it back some more. Mine is on alky though.

| The stator would be the easiest way. I really dont understand how you would do it with a woodruff key?

| well like the key that sparks makes for the 400ex theirs also one on the end of the shaft on the lt cut some off the key and advance the flywheel forward untill it stops and tighten it back down |

| if you are talking about grinding the woodruff key that fits in the slot on the crank and keeps the flywheel from spinning freely......forget about it!. i am certain u would snap it once you lean on it.since u would have to remove the flywheel any way just adjust the timing plate and if you can adjust it cut some slots on either side of where the screws to hold it on go. but Make sure you mark the plate with a marker or something so you know where it was originally. so you have a point of reference. that way if IT DOESNT work out u can retun it to original settings
