have you ever cleaned the carb or jetted before?

if not grab some carb cleaner from your local moto shop and give her a clean.

the problems you are describing with it running awesome some days and bad other days is definitely carb.

what is average outside temps when its awesome and when its shithouse?

post up a pic of your head if possible

Well I have not ever jetted a carb yet. I havent cleaned this one either as I bought the whole bike from a friend really cheap. I will take it apart and clean the carb like you suggested.

The bike never runs good for a day. Its always one time through gears its boggy, next time its smoking like crap, next time its standing up on you.

Temps here are about 85-90deg.

This isnt the head off of it but a spare I bought and its got the same marks on it. Will the gouging affect how it runs? I got order another head gasket for it now. And also I havent put 100-110 octane fuel in it yet. But with a stock mikuni carb on it it def has NO POWER at all.

they arent as bad as i thought it would be, that should be fine to run but id still flick it over to flotek if your concerned about performance.

you will notice a definite difference in the way the bike runs, hopefully cleaning the carb will fix most of them, it should fix the bogging, but you will notice its much more crisp, and better throttle response.

Also, make sure your air filter is clean grab some motul air filter oil while your at your bike store, and give her a good clean with some turps or gasoline.

Thanks for your time. I have contacted him a few times. I just hate bugging folks. I was hoping he would be on here and take a peak as well and chime in. I will just email him and ask about how to send and pay for having the head cleaned up. The one I posted above is a spare but it looks about the same as the one I pulled off.

I will prob send him both my heads to have done up. And I will just buy a carb from a member on here. I got nothing but time and still have a good 85 motor to run. But If i can get this 86 to work I will for sure send him my 85 jug and head to have ported up. It just bugs me that I dont know as much about 2 strokes as I do fixing modern automobiles.

I can do motors in expeditions

And show you what killed it

I guess that some 2 stroke books are in order to read up on design and function.

Sure no problem man, always happy to help fellow members!

haha nice work with the expeditions, i would have no idea on where the hell to start with a car engine.

Don't worry about bugging him :P

keep calling until you get your price and details

once you get the hang of 2 strokes they are a piece of cake to rebuild from the gearbox up.

Yea I work on about anything at the shop. We have been busy as heck this week. We close the week of the 4th. Heck I had some weird name chinese built 250 4 stoke atv in and had to service it for a good customer and had to pull the carb off and clean it up runs like a champ now. But I really like the power$trokes, and cummins diesels as no one in town likes em. I kind of self taught myself on those although I did goto a 6.0 powerjoke class.

I just emailed him and asked about price and when and how to pay. Bought ready to send him the jug and let him look at it to.
