| I just bought a 1990 LT500R and the rear shock has very little compression and rebound dampening. I took it into Powersports PRO for repair. For $139.00 I got the shock back. The shop guy said he had disassembled, cleaned, refilled with heavier oil and charged it up. I installed the shock and did not notice any difference in the shocks performance. I took it back in and the shop guy told me to tinker with the settings and loosen the spring. None of his suggestions made any difference at all. So.... I've decided to replace it. Anyone have a rear shock for a Zilla they can part with? Let me know. Thanks! Last edited by acbruno; 07-03-2006 at 01:40 PM. |

| I would go with a good aftermarket one and have them set it up for your weight and style of riding. If you get a used one you might still have the same problem. |

| shocks usually use a light oil. thicker oils will increase the damping, but it also harder to get all the air out of the oil during reassembly. did he revalve it for you? if the shock was rebuilt correctly it should ride just as good as any aftermarket shock. |

| I agree with SBLT. You should take it back and slam it on his counter.

| Or clock him in the head with it. The stock zilla shock is just as good as any aftermarket shock not to mention it is hard to find a shock builder that still makes aftermarket replacements for the Zilla. Most companies never made a rear because the rear was built so good. I have my LT250 shocks getting rebuilt right now. Should have them back in about a week or so
