front hub broke

I was installing a new set of tires and sheared off the stud with vertually no torque. Have any of you had issues with the studs on the fronts of a 87 lt 500 breaking or spining in place. I have another stud on that hub that spins and will not allow the nut to tighten. Looking at the back I do not see how it could rotate but it is? Anybody have issues like this and what did you do new - I assume new hubs

That's a new one on me, never heard of the studs breaking. Anyway, the studs are knurled next to the big head, and you can buy new studs from Suzuki, I would try putting new studs in the hub before I looked for a new hub. Just knock them out then knock the new ones in!

As skully said. Get new studs. The old ones can be knocked out the back. New ones knocked in from the back. As for the one spinning knock it out you may have just spunn the teeth off the stud. If so a new stud will fix it. If not aaaaa I don't know a little weld or JB weld in the hole maybe. Then drill it out to the right size then knock a new stud in it. Just a thought.

thanks for the info I will order up some new studs and try my luck. Keep you posted. I am glad to hear this is a rare thing as I would hate to loose a tire at 70+mph
