Clutch problems

I have a lt500r and I thought I smoked a clutch but when i pulled the cover the cluch looked about 50%. No heat marks or anything. It looks like the clutch hub is not alowning the unit to engage fully. I have no Idea whats happening. I milled a little off the hub and it hooks up now. Has anyone else had this problem? and am I goung to have to buy a new clutch assembly? thanks guys.
