qzillanut, you do know your whole quad is 20 yrs old and reworked? see, if its done right it will last forever whether its a carb or a motor
Really? WOW I feel so enlightened. Thanks for the news flash. I thought all these custom parts I made myself were made in the last year. Who knew I had such skills at such a young age. And the pipe, piston, carb, etc.... Geez. Now I feel ripped off.

Hahahaha thats funny, I dont care who ya are. I agree with ya zillanut. Im not a mikuni carb guy myself, 100 - 150 to rework it. I would rather buy a used 39pwk on ebay for 80 - 100 bucks and take to your local shop and have it bored for 30-40. I have a 39pwk on mine, its not even bored but it runs great. I will probably buy a lectron as soon as my r is done, though.

Someone said that Q wants 100-150 to do his "rx" mods to a factory carb. I would rather have a 39pwk bored or better yet a 44mm lectron. The lectrons are far superior carbs, I dont care what Q does to a mikunni, they dont match a lectron

Is this a stock Mikuni 44mm or did you have the Mikuni 38mm bored to 44mm?

I just picked up a used PWK 39mm for $75. If I wanted to have it bored, where should I send it? I would rather send it to someone who has done it before. What is the typical bore on this carb? 41.5mm?

Also, what about the FTZ Modified Mikuni 39/41.5mm taperbore carb? Anyone have any input on this one? I noticed you can pick one up for around $220.

Thanks,
SZ

The dr q carbs the way to go. A 48 is prolly to big unless its been ported some and a 39 is too small for it even stock. The 42.5 arent just a 20 year old carb bored over.. Its totaly remetered and all parts are replaced for max performance with better then stock reliability. ITs a whole differnt carb when its done. I want to say your lookin at about $130 for one of the best carbs you can put on a zilla. I think he is backed up right now, but its worth the wait. 88 and up is the cheaper carb to rx. 87 requires more work. make sure you dont send in a carb with a worn out slide, They commonly wear out.

I am by no means trying to start another Q battle here but, Do all you guys live by the Q bible? A lectron carb is a state of the art carb. Do some research on planet sand. You can get a lectron for a good price from packard racing that will be just about dead nuts on when he sends it. Add a fuel pump and some alky and glue on some velcro cause "Its time to go!!!" I dont see Q on planet sand trying to push his carb over a lectron. Over there he talks like me or you. Not like god on the hq.

You know they make lectrons in sizes other than 48mm. I don't know why that's the only one anyone talks about?

What fact did you state? I guess I missed that part

I'm not trying to argue either. I just stated my opinion of spending that much cash on an old carb, when a BNIB Lectron, that is better, isn't much more money. You are the one who had to make a smart remark, remember. SHRUGS.......... Send your 20 year old carb in for mods if you like..........since it never wears out.......LOL. You can ignore the part where the slide and carb body must be in good shape, if you like. After all, that stuff never gets any wear on it.
