the fact that our bikes are 20 yrs old and reworked. i think the misunderstanding is that the carb i'm talking about isn't reworked. stock mikuni 44. they're kind of rare but you can find them cheap and nothing needs to be done but jet it right. yes they're old but still inexpensive- and big. never had any issues

No thats not the "reworked carb". Im sure that 44 runs good in the top end. Hows the low end throttle responce? A pwk carb has good throttle responce all the way through, and if you want great top end thats where the lectrons really shine.

i think the porting fixes any low end response problems the big carb might cause so its really smooth all the way through. very wide power band. it actually rides trails great

What model Mikunni 44mm is it. Is it a round slide? flat slide?

Yeah, I know the style carb you are refering to, and that wasn't what I was talking about spending money on at all. I was talking about the stock 38mm mikuni that some people send out to be RX'd. I'm sure that they run awesome when Dr. Q gets done with them, but I would personally rather just spend a little more money and get a lectron.

Trinity sells that round slide 44mm mikuni that you are talking about, kindof half way prejetted for a zilla pretty often. Probably not a bad carb at all. I'd personally still rather have a lectron, and if I'm going to drop the cash for a new one, I wouldn't consider anything but the lectrons, but if you find one of those 44mm Mikuni's cheap, why not. I've watched the ones that Trinity sets up bring 300+ bucks used on eGay, because it's got a Trinity sticker on it. LOL

I'm just the type that likes to do stuff all out the first time. If carb A gains 1 hp and carb B gains 2, I'll probably just go ahead and spend whatever for carb B while I'm buying, because I know I'll eventually want that extra HP, and would feel like whatever money I spent on carb A would have basically been wasted. I'm going through this delima bad right now, because I have a 40.5 pwk on mine, and really wish I would have just waited and bought the lectron. Live and learn I guess.

exactly. i don't know what trinity would do to make it worth 300. thats where mine came from but i don't think anything is done to them besides rough jetting. i'm sure an rxd carb is great and done right but is it better than buying the right one in the first place? i think we're on the same page now

I dont see Q on planet sand trying to push his carb over a lectron. Over there he talks like me or you. Not like god on the hq.
This guy said nothing about any other mods. So telling him to go out and get huge carb is stupid. In the real world with mild or stock porting and a 44 you will lose bottom. A 39 isn't enough you will lose topend, so a well spent 130ish $$ for a carb thats bolt on ready to go, with telephone support from the man who made it, is the only way to fly.... You cant get service like that anywhere anymore. The 42.5 is the carb for the best gains in this guys situation. If everyones so bent on new stuff buy a ltr.. I'm amazed that almost nobody here has even tried a Q carb, yet will still recommend another carb that isn't as suited for this guys application. If he said he had a drag/dune ported 530 then yea, lectron all the way. If the Q bible your refering to is also called the common sense bible then yes... we live by it.

Telephone support? If you buy a carb from Dennis Packard he will answer any questions you may have. And he HAS built some of the baddest machines out there, not just claimed to have. He can get a Lectron in any size you want 40,42,44,46,48,........ Way more options for a way better carb.

You say a drag/dune port you would go lectron all the way. Dont let Q hear that, you may be the next person voted off the island!!!!

UH OH. here come the troops lol
