In terms of the swingarm, you could always purchase 2 used stock swing arms (ebay, etc.) and have them chopped and welded together with reinforcing plates to make an extended swinger.

You can get two used swingarms for around $150 plus the cost of fabrication and reinforcing plates. It's probably still much less expensive than some brand new extended swing arms.

This method allows you to use all the same mounting points for the stock swingarm skid plates, brake caliper, rear suspension, etc. It allows the use of the same carrier and axle. It will also maintain the stock look if that's something you care about.

Wouldnt that add a lot more weight than going with an aftermarket one?

Probably. Adds weight to your bike but adds money to your wallet.

Are you looking for a light duty / lightweight drag/duner swinger or are you looking for a heavy duty all around swinger? What kind of riding will you be doing with it?

Byke Engineering makes extended swingers for the LT500 (+4, +6 and +8). Theirs is nice because it uses the stock carrier, which means you can keep your axle. I believe they also make +1/+3 A-arms.

Extending a stock swinger will add about 2-5 lbs depending on how much longer you go. What a killer.
