what are the pros and cons of the 87 zilla?

the 87 have a little bigger intake right?, but one disadvantage is that the motor has one less head stud. You can fix that though. Do some looking around, you'll learn a lot just by doing that

the 87 they say can produce more power {SAY}
and it does have 1 less head stud more head gasket problems
and the 88 to 90 are easier to get parts for and cheapier
gasket sets reeds bearings sterring are all cheapier

Pros:

larger intake/reed cage = more power
better looking front A-arms (opinion)
lighter frame

Cons:

6 head studs instead of 7
crap carb
wider ratio transmisson
less frame gusseting

does anyone know what a safe thickness would be before reshaping the head if i were to have it milled.

Lighter frame ??? really ??

You woudnt know by picking mine up compared to my buddies 88, his feels way lighter

I have an extra 87 frame, ill try and weigh it and see how much, unless someone else knows exactly already

Maybe one of you have an 88-90 and we could compare them ??
