Default rm125 clutch problems

Just picked up a 98 rm125 the other day. Started it up and when riding it the clutch won't engage. Like when i pull the clutch lever in it does nothing. Tried adjusting it, and i even cracked the case to peek at it, and it looks good form the outside, i didn't take the clutch apart, just looked at it to make sure everything was OK. Drained the fluid (obviously was neglected, looked like sludge coming out). The bike hasn't ran in a while says the previous owner, could it just need a good ride in order to get it working properly?

Hi, did you check if the plates are still in spec ?
Maybe it needs new friction plates.

as long as you can see the patches on the plates then they are ok. sounds like you have a water leak if you had sludge in the oil. the water will make the clutches slip and not grab at all.

What do you mean with 'sludge' ? Is it grey metal-color paste or something like that ? Might be your clutch basket that is worn-out.

Did you open the clutch-cover and check the clutch basket ?
If it has big grooves it that might cause your clutch getting stuck.

Sludge, like grey liquid, didn't really look like oil in my opinion. anyway... opened it up and everyhting looked fine. the clutch basket looked brand new, the disks and friction plates looked fine... there were no chunks taken out of anything.

tried to adjust the tension on the cable, no help.
not sure if its called engaging or disengaging, but when put into gear and grabing the clutch the bike still wants to move, while its running. Unfortunatly i got it like this.
