| It doesn't say "fatty" but it does say Gold Series. I'll pull the plug tonight and check the color. atcsteve- Thanks for the kind words. I've always loved riding suzuki's. I've been wanting a zilla for about 3-4 years now. -Mark

| Fatty is the name of FMF's pipe. I would say you probably only need to go up a few jetts. If you call FMF they should be able to tell you. Since you don't have many mods I would say go down to your ATV shop and buy some jets that are above your stock jet. Then go up on the jet one by one till your plug is a good tanish blackish color. I run my machines on the blackerside. I would rather be rich than lean. Also your Air Screw if you turn that one turn it is equal to going up one jet. So put a jet in then turn the screw out 2 turns that is your middle. If you turn it out your going up a jet if you turn it in your going down a jet. Don't turn past 4 total turns out. Once you find a happy point put the closest jet you can so that you will have the air screw at 2 turns out. Hope this helps if I screwed up on any of my info some one please correct me. Thanks

| ok, first what year is it? 2nd FMF only makes one pipe for the 500. it is a fatty, gold series. compression ratio - corrected ratio, or math ratio? (corrected is around 6:1) i know, its very low, but remember, that is corrected. i run super unleaded in mine, but it is stock (no port work, or compression changes) i run amsoil at 50:1 main jet for a stock 500 , in 1987 is a 400, later years is a 350 i currently have a 460 main jet in, but i just bought a bigger carb., and wanted to make sure it is rich so i can go down in sizes. best money you can spend is on a factory repair manual. they are worth thier weight in gold. good luck

| I mix mine at 32:1 with 112 octane race gas because of the dome in the cool head. I would go a little leaner with a stock zillla but I would not go as far as 52:1 maybe 42:1. Check your plug as much as possible until it is a good dark brown not black and oily or tanish white. I would make sure that you talk to fmf also because you will probably want to go up in size in the pilot jet also so it will run good in low rpms that was the biggest problem I had dialing my in.

| jason we need a section on this site just for reading plugs properly. that way everybody can refer to it. this is a topis that seems to come up on a weekly basis. ok the plug should be brown or tanish not white or black. think of it this way the lighter the plug the leaner you are. when you get it at a tanish brown color then your correct with your main afterthat is when you can dial in your pilot and needle settings. i know if seems liek alot but you'l get the hang of it pretty qiuck. as for jetting to a FMF pipe i would agree with everybody else and call FMF and ask them. they know thre pipes better than anybody else will. not to mention that they will give you a great staring point. jetting will change with climate and elevation so the jet size they give you is most likely a staring point unless they ask you bout elevation or what part o th country you live in. higher elevation requires a smaller jet becasue the air is less dense and requires less fuel to get the optimum mix. lower elevations require a bigger jet because the air is packed into the cyl. better because of higher atmosphereic pressure. thats the short version becasue nobody wants the long version. just call FMF for a starting point then we can steer you in the right direction |

| Ive seen this happen often.guys will buy a big carb and will have to reduce the jets so far that they gain nothing!big carb on a built bike will only give you a little more in top end and on a stock bike its a waste of money.re gear that bitch and ride the hell out of it,that would be better than big carb.anyway which carb did you get? |

Gearing. Hell ya. I geared my LT250 with stock front sprocket but a went 2 teeth bigger in the back and it gets out of the hole fast! Hence my screen name. But It's hard going from a 6 speed to a 5 speed. I find my self reshifting into 5th all the time. lol. I think I might go up a sprocket upfront on the zilla. -Mark

| I went to a 42 tooth in the rear and droped a tooth in the front and it is a rocket ship out the hole. I would get a couple of sprokets so you can change them depending on what kind of riding you do.
