If your talking about the inner clutch basket NUT then try this. After removeing the presure plate and clutch disc put the tranny in gear.Make sure you starighten the lock plate out go easy on it unless you intend to replace it.If the engine is in the frame hold the rear brake and remove the nut.Remove the inner and outer clutch baskets. If the top end is of use a con rod stopper tool, if not use a peice of copper tubing pinched shut between the gears(a penny will work in a pinch).loosen the balancer shaft nut, then the crankshaft nut (note this the crankshaft nut is more then likly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LEFT HANDED THREADS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!b ut I have never worked on a 250 only the 500 so becareful). Then remove both gears and then the seal.During reassemblely make sure you line the timing marks up on the CRANKSHAFT,CRANKSHAFT GEAR and the BALANCER SHAFT GEAR should all be aligned.THIS MUST BE DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Use BLUE locktite on the shaft nuts and torque to factory specs then reassemble in reverse order of disassemble.

use an impact gun to remove the clutch nut, along with the counter balancer nut and crank nut. its a lot easier that way. the crankshaft nut on all lt250r's and lt500r's are left hand threads. i do have a clutch holder tool on my website http://sbdesigns.everything2stroke.c...products_id=59

use a piece of brass or a penny, like was said. to hold the gears from spinning

a quick easy way is just put a penny between the gears & loosen the nut then you dont have to have any special tools & when your putting it back together you can torque it & you know how tight it is unlike an impact a copper penny will deform & wont hurt the gears

One way i do it is I take the springs off and then take plate off and then put all the springs back on but not the plate. That holds the outer hub pretty tight to the inner hub then I use a penny in the gears. Sometime a penny wont work because it chews it up and if that happens I take a spare gear I have laying around and put it in there and and the teeth mesh and the chance of breaking something is pretty low that way.

Impacts help a lot. They spin fast enough you don't have to hold it in place as hard.
