Frame Painting!!!

My 86 frame has seen better days.I was thinking of sanding it down and priming and painting it with spray cans..And then clear coating it.Everyone says to powder coat it.I cant see spending $300 for just the frame.Anyone got any ideas???The stock paint is 20 years old and still there!!!

You can spray it but powder coating is for life. It is pretty much impossible to get it off. The guy we deal with says that it cost double to get the powdercoating off the frame than it does to put it on.

What does he charge !!I was quoted a price of 275 for the frame to be blasted and coated.His card says POWDER COATED TOUGH..I belive it s a product line...Any ideas!!!

can you get the suzuki blue in a spray paint can, to do touch ups? i've got an 87 that i'd like to do some touch up work on it, but i don't want to have to pay an arm and a leg to do it.... nothing too fancy, just a quick fix untill i get the money to do it right

If your in SoCal I can have your frame done in any solid color for $125 thats blasted and powdered..


Im getting all my stuff done for $175 thats all parts sandlasted and powdered in Black...

The other thing you can do is have the frame sand blasted and then painted with spray can.... and then add some clear to it..

In saginaw michigan, i got my frame powder coated this week for $80, i did all prep work my self: disassemble, cleaning , sandblasting.. ill include some pictures soon.

cool cool, if i repaint my frame i'm going to get some nice car paint and have someone spray it for me, prolly just do the paint can stuff for touch ups

powdercoating's nice, but i race mx and it definately doesn't last forever. the underside gets demolished and it cracks where u tighten bolts. the only plus is, the rest especially where your boots rub, don't wear as bad.
