I have a Suzuki LT80 Quad - When it sits for a long period of time the cylinder fills with fuel. No overflow from the carb bowl. Is this a problem with the fuel shut off on the gas tank? Any other ideas?

hummm strange. do you shut the fuel off and let it run till it dies, you know before you store it for long times???

Being a suzuki... there is no real shut off on the fuel - you have On, Res, and Prime as options. I have decided to try replacing the fuel valve itself. I did some investigation and found that in the on position no fule should flow unless there is vacuum from the carb. I did have a drip. The (expensive fuel valve is on order - and I hope it resolves the issue!

i think it's more likely that the float needle of float has a problem. i don't know that bikes carb but with most it's either in need of adjustment or dirty or needing replacement of the needle and seat. i doubt that the petcock (fuel valve) will fix your problem, you see theoretically it's not the valve that limits the fuel going into the carb, it's the float needle valve Assembly. if it was me i would check the carb over and get that working right first. then to pevent it from hapenning again i would install a fuel shut off and, run the carb empty befor storing the bike. if you go this route, run the bike once a month to keep all the seals conditiond.

Excuse me for my English, but I'll do my best to explain: Normally the float has a little clip that pushes the needle down to stop fuel from running in to the carburator when it's full. You might bend that little clip a little so that it closes the carburator a little faster.
