quick lighting questions

My taillight bulb burnt out. Will i have to go to a suzuki dealer to get the bulb or can i pick it up at a local autoparts store? My high beam works on my head light but the low does not... Would that be a bulb issue or could it be something else... and if it is the bulb would i have to get it from a dealer.....

I was wanting to switch from the stockhead light to an aftermarket headlight set up... i'm not for sure if i want to go with lazerstars or rickys, but i do want to do something like that.... Are there any other high out put stators for the lt besides ricky's? and also. if i go with the high out put stator what would be the brightest set up i could go with...

If you Go with the Ricky stator you can run 100 watt single or Up to two 55watt double set up it is a 130watt output.... I think I would check the out put of your regulator first off just to make sure that itn't bad...

I know your stator's output is 85w

okay, how hard is it to check ur regulator. Would that be for my headlights now.. or before i went to a new stator :-S

IF you Have a Mulit meter Just check the out put from head light lead to Ground at 5000 PRMS or close to it if you have over 14 volts or under 13 its bad ....

for the bulbs your probably gonna have to go to the dealer. well teh tail light might be a 194 bulb you can get at any gas station, autoparts store, or truck stop

I have the Ricky Stator 130W and RS baja kit (dual 55WPIAA), standard whip light w/1156 bulb(25-27W) and 5W aftermarket tailight . First, the PIAA lights suck balls, second, the stator doesn't make enough power to light everything till about 5000RPM's and I nearly had a wire meltdown because the lighting coil wire coming from the stator and it's connecting partner on the bike to the rest of the system aren't heavy enough gauge to support all the juice needed for that much light. I changed to Hella 500's that have a much better beam then unplugged one and BAM! I had good light from that one beam better than ever. I'm thinking now the best setup without doing a 12volt conversion and batt is........
1. 130 W RS
2. L.E.D. tail AND whip bulbs (very low wattage draw) But will LED's run off the AC power
the stator is sending, inquiring minds want to know.
3. No more than 2 35W headlight bulbs in at least a Hella 500 or better lamp assy.
The Hella 500's have a good light pattern and will probably still work good @35W, they
come with 55W bulbs in them new. The down side is they shine a lot of light back off of
the outer/back of the lens because there is no bezel ring covering the very outer edge of
lamp, I just put some elec. tape over it, worked good, but tape sucks, need a better
lamp.
I haven't tried the bullet style lamps (Lazer Star and copies) and am a little sceptical myself of the small reflectors they use, maybe someone can chime in on those.

whats the hella 500's? never really heard of them before...

i've never seen a quad in person with lazer stars... i've got about 5 friends with lazer stars on their buggies and they are about the brightest sobs i've ever seen

hellas are freaking huge, just go to walmart and buy a driving light that looks like a fog light and you will be good to go!
