my dad has an old 91 rm 250 that he wants to rebuild and get running again he bought it for dirt cheap with a blown motor.... the motor needs new crank bearings including the rod bearing,powervalves,piston and rings,cylinder recoated,clutch basket,top end gaskets of course,water pump seal, and i think thats it so how much is he lookin at hear without anything too fancy on it i was thinkin around 500 bux but let me know wat u guys think

You can do that for around 500 bucks. Do the work your self and I think it can be done. The basket is the pricy part.

yeah it doesent really need the basket but it kinda does because somehow 1 of the teeth got broken off somehow and it isnt in the trans i think the dumbass who had the bike b4 did a clutch change and dropped the basket

ya even cheaper then 500 probably, maybe 400, depends where you order parts, and the basket is the bitch part to find

My 98' KX250 that I had with a blown motor took $350 for all but the clutch basket.

You should be a little under 500, look around for some deals and do the work yourself. Those motors are not that bad to turn wrenches on. I wouldn't cheap out on seals and gaskets though, I personally like to play it safe in that department.

Well i dont know about the powervalve, u might have to resort to ebay for that.
