Default big problem...dont know whats wrong with my lt250r

ok yestarday i just rebuilt my 91 lt250r...did everything right except for the gasket for the top end to connect to the bottom end ripped in half.so i went and got some liquid gasket which should work fine bc i dont think there is much pressure there. i had to put regular car oil on the piston and in the cylinder so that the piston would slide in easier. i have alot of compression now when i kick it but it wont fire. i checked the new spark plug amd it had not much stuff on it. i put gas straight into the cylinder and it still didnt work. i went to a shop and they said the powervalve woulnt stop it from running it would just determine how much poer i had at top end of bottom end. i left the gas off and kicked it bc i wasnt sure if i flooded it and it still didnt work. AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THIS LITTLE CLEAR PLASTIC WASHER GOES THAT I GOT WITH MY GASKET SET. if someone could help me from taking it to a shop i would greatly appreciate it.thanks everyone for the help.

You checked the spark plug for gas on it, did you check it for spark? On a 2 stroke, if you have compression, spark and dump some fuel in there, it should fire like nothing.

I once had problems with my 86. Well, my buddy did because he had it before me. Anyways, he always had to pull start it. When he blew the motor I bought the quad as it sat. I rebuilt it and starts first or second kick everytime. Are sure you have all the ignition wires hooked up right and have you checked to make sure you don't have any wires piched?

ok you have to check the basic first. check all elec. connections and check for broken wires. it seems dumb but double check it. if everything is plugged in then start checking other things. how did you put gas into the cylinder??? if all of your connections are good and you have no broken wires then the problem lies somewhere in the elec. system. start checking each piece individually. get a factory service manual (clymers are junk) and test each piece. my guess is that you don't have soemthing plugged in tight or maybe not even plugged in at all.

i was told by a dude at a shop that the bottom end to top end gasket needs to be there bc its not getting enough vacuum to pull in the gas...it could mess up timing and if it does start i could suck in the liquid gasket and screw something up...so i ordered a new gasket set and im gonna wait and do it thursday...ill let you all know how it turns out...any other advice would be appreciated

you put the gasket it there right? it just had a tear in it? and i cant see a little bit of liquid gasket messing anything up, thats what we use at work to put snowmobile bases together with all the time.

Just a word of advice. When you install the new gasket, put some silicone on the back below where the reed cage is on the cylinder. That is the weak point on the base gasket on those motors that tends to blow.

I always put a little silicone on all my gaskets just to be safe. All except for my head gasket anyway. It won't hurt anything.
