That is a loaded statement. A strictly drag motor would be better with a LT cylinder because there is no power valve with any obstructions on the top of the exhaust port resulting in a more correct port timing. The difference is very minimal but that is what drag racing is all about minimal differences. All around yes any newer cylinder will out perform the LT motor.

there is an old RM cyl that swaps onto the LTY cases.. but it only fits the 87-up Lt's i think

86 rm 250 swaps. It has the 87 big intake with a nice transfer layout, which are pretty good in my opinion on a suzuki anyway. It also runs a oval port which is nice. Problem is finding one. Myself I can see spending the extra money to swap out my intake stuff that I already have for the small one. Personally I think with a proper port job the small intake is better for a non big bore motor anyway. The big one would be okay with a HV lectron though I bet. Anyway

my buddy's ltz400 keeps pulling on me in like 3rd gear and up, and he talks so much shit... plus the lt is down right now and i have access to a full automotive machine shop so i can fab alot of stuff or do engin work, it just sparked my intrests because i saw a '90 ktm 300cc... and it was only like 100$ (not to say i want that one....) but i just want a little more power out of it for fair price...

Why the hell would you want to go to all that trouble to get some exotic cylinder on a LT bottom end. Who cares if its a 300. Get a damn port job, a head mod, a carb and forget about that shit. I have a stock LT jug 250.2cc suzuki that should be running very low 5's in 100yrds with porting, pipe, reeds, and a alky carb. If you see any z400's running that let me know.

what year LT do you have???? just wondering... any year LT250R should spank a LTZ400 i say port yours and get a nice pipe for it.... you'll be smoking LTZ's with ease

Hey I tell you sometimes I just dont understand. Like when everyone lists their mods to their bike they always are like its .50 over. Yank yank that doesn't make a shit bit of difference. Maybe if you went from stock to .80 a tiny amount of difference. I can see losing to a z in the dirt maybe if the two stroke was spinning and the other guy could ride good. If you are in the sand there is no way the 250 should be losing. A relatively stock one anyway. I have a good friend with a 435 that I ported and some other mods that will spank some ass but it is modded a whole lot.
