Default Lt250r

Hey guys, I am looking to buy a Suzuki LT250R. Does anyone know the differences between the 85-92 models? Thanks! Also, if anyone around New York is selling one, please contact me. Thanks!

Well the 85-86 have a non powervalve motor and does not use a reed cage. The 87-92 have a powervalve and a reed cage. The 85-86 has a round house carrier in the swing arm which is easier to deal with compared to the 87-92 block style. It is not that big of a problem compared to the LT500 block carrier. Thats all I have off the top of my head.

The 85/86 have different A-arms than the 87+ models and the 87 and up models have a little more front suspension travel. And yes the newer swingarms are a little bit of a pain in the ass to deal with but the 85/86 swingarm will fit the newer models. The biggest visual difference id the 87+ models is the ugly seat that looks kinda like a sofa in my opinion but it is a lot easier to find parts for the 87+ models.Oh and the 85/86 have a 5 speed tranny and the 87+ has a six speed.Try to stay away from the 87 because the 88 is supposedly a little better seeing the 87 was the 1st year for the new design.I do have an 86 and love it but everyone recommends the 88 and ups.I say go for the best deal and it all depends what you want outta it.Your best bet is to find one hooked up for cheap someone lost interest in and look the frame over for cracks........Bill

I dont think the 85/86's were a great bike I try to stay away for them with only 5 speeds and no power valve. I think alot of it depneds on your riding style and opinion though.

Ah dont take offense, similar could be said about the banshee. They leave a lot to be disired (suspension), and after you replace the clutch, basket, and weld the crank they are ok. lol People will still keep buying either one.
