Angry shifting problem still

Ok im back with the same problem. I got my clutch basket off and got the shifting mechanism all lined up. It was shifting through all the gears as it should. So i put the clutch basket back on and it starts doing the same shit again. It would only shift into like 3 different gears. But when i would move the 4-wheeler it would make it shift into the next gear. It is like the gears get bound up or something. So i took the clutch basket back off and it wont shift through all the gears like it had previously. I am lost and about to throw this damn thing into the river.

any ideas?

Well, I know many machines won't bench shift thru more than a couple of gears without rotating the crank. The gears won't mesh without rotating. Have you riden this thing and tried the tranny yet?

My banshee I can only get it to third usually before it binds up. When running it though it goes through all fine. Was the shifting working fine at one time? Since have you had the lower end apart? It could be a worn gear, I know alot of times when you have worn gears it will slip a gear when shifting.

Before the shifting shaft slid out and the shifting fork became unmeshed it would shift through all the gears. But I guess I should give it a try while its running and see if it will shift through the gears

Yes....put it back together and ride it and try it, just go easy on it till your sure they work right, no sense being a madman and breaking something else if by chance something isn't right. THe trans gears have to slide on their shafts from side to side by the forks, if everything isn't in perfect alignment, it won't shift, thus the reason for it having to roll a little to shift.

Yea I think thats common for it not to shift through all the gears when sitting. As long as it shifts through the gears easily while riding thats the time when it matters most. I know my banshee won't shift through all the gears without rocking it a little somtimes.
