are those little pawl and spring deals installed properly inside the end of the shift drum? thats about all I can think of other than the forks not being lined up the right way

Ok, have you inspected the shaft for straightness? You said it shifts fine on the bench, was that with the cover off? I had the same problem with my 81 CR125 yesterday. I had just completed rebuilding it and the shifter felt like it was welded in place. ( yeah, I know they're way different) With the factory washer in place, it was just too tight. A simple .035ths and it wouldnt shift. Shifted fine till I put the cover back on. Removed the washer, and everything worked fine.

I'm just steppin and fetchin on trying to give you ideas. Kinda hard to diagnose something you can't see.

Does it shift when the bike is not running? Or now it just doesn't shift at all? If you can get it into first if you pull the clutch in and kick does the bike move forward? Just make sure you have your clutch adjusted correctly. I have had that stump me a couple time from just slapping it together and forgetting to adjust it correctly.

I think Kane and 370 gave you both some good ideas of what to look for. I hope it's not your clutch bastket because you might be standing in line if you want an aftermarket basket.

If non of this helps try to give us more details of things like it will shift if I do this. Or it just won't shift at all. Try to give as much details as possible

So, you actually put a busted basket back in a zilla and fired it up? Are you aware that if one finger is broken off you like as not have several more with, at the very least, stress cracks and could fly apart causing even more damage?
