Default overheating?

After about 30 minutes of riding I shut it off and smoke continued to come out of the tailpipe for a good 5 minutes after I shut off the engine and the cylinder felt hotter than normal to the touch. Coolant level is fine and I can feel water circulating in the hoses when I rev the engine, what gives? I just put new top end gaskets on and this was the first ride since. I did bleed the cooling system, could it be that I did'nt bleed it enough? Also I never changed the main jet when I got it bored, could that be the problem?

The plug looks fine, does'nt show any signs of being hot. How is the best way to check the water pump? I assume it's pumping since I can feel the pulsating in the hoses.

Smoke continuing to come from the exhaust is no indication. Without clear hoses there are really only two ways of knowing if you're pump is working, one is the weep hole isnt leaking and two, with the pump cover off the impeller should turn with the crank and not spin freely by itself. You can buy a piece of high-temp reinforced coolant hose at Home Depot and plumb it inline just as a temp thing to see the coolant as well. It's not a real radiator hose so I wouldnt use it for too awful long. Getting an inline finned cooler with a built in temp gauge might be your best route if you worry about cooling.

Huh have you repacked your silencer? Just thinking it could be worn packing on fire.

I wondered about the packing too but the silencer only has maybe 10 hours on it. Where can I get some clear hoses? I'm going to go pull the water pump cover off and see if I can find anything wrong.

I'm positive the gasket is not on backwards, however I rode it about 20 minutes yesterday and it seemed to be fine. Very strange.
