'85 vs '86 lt250r motor

How can you tell the difference between an 85 and 86 lt250r motor? Thanks

i dont think there was a difference...they went to a bigger carb, and i think they changed the porting design.

they have different gear ratios.

85 used a 32mm carb, 86 and up used 34mm carb, thats the only difference i know of

Can you tell me the difference between the gears in the 85-86 years lt.

fourth and fifth gear are different. they have a different number of teeth. i found this out because i had 2 engines supposably the same year and saw in the manual that they were different.

In the Honda 250R review in this month's Dirt Wheels, it says the Quadracer received "redesigned porting" in 86.
