Default Finally Got My 86 Out (WOW!!!)

I finally got my 86 LT250 out in the woods yesterday...All i can say is i am so very happy and i am impressed.Way better than that overpriced 01 Rappy 4 poke mi had.The technology in this 86 is like holey shit.It handled so good and never even fouled a spark plog....It ran excellent and boy did it move.I tell ya the power band really pulls. And the suspension was great compared to the over weight Raptor...I think im gonna wait a little while b4 i put in the new carbs and g3 reeds till i need a top end..Seeing im gonna pull the head to do it...I love this Quadracer..I think its a keeper.Maybe some suspension mods..Any one got any ideas i dont want to go to crazy..The cheaper the better...

I just took out my 86 quadracer in the woods for the first time last weekend too. These quads are pretty sweet. My friend brought his raptor along. We switched and I deffinately prefer my quad to his. It's so much easier to handle in the tight woods. I think I'm gonna gear it down and get some smaller tires to bring out the bottom end a bit more.

Question

I've just got my 89 LT250R going also. It is a pretty quick machine but it is a pain to start. i usually have to kick it atleast 20 times b/4 it fires and sometimes it helps to just pull the plug out and just put it back in. (even if it is a brand new on) Does anyone know what the problem may be? it is a quick machine.

i deffinatly prefer my lt over a raptor too...if you gear it down and put 18"s on it get ready and hold...these things haul A$$ when there geared right and tuned for bottom end!!and vice versa!! ex's and other 4 strokes cant hold a match to me in the woods!!and as soon as i hit a strait im gone...

Hey, I saw your quad nova. That thing is bad ass. Can't say Ive ever seen a quadracer like yours. I think Im gonna buy a topend from this guy that is already ported w/ a fresh bore. So I cant wait to see how she does after that.

I just put a new kick starter spring in my 87 this year, it was really hard to start last year, but first I would make sure the carb (make sure the choke is working) and air filter are clean, that the plug is properly gapped and the recommended brand, and that you are running good gas, personally I run 93 octane mixed at 32:1.
The new spring really seemed to help though went from 15 or so kicks to 1 or 2, you just have to make sure you install it properly--facing the front of the machine when locked in place! You have to take out your entire clutch basket to do this though (in order to manuever the spring into place properly), so I would recommend either waiting till you want to replace other things in there or be prepared for a little bit of work.
Good luck, maybe somebody else will have some other ideas for you.
