Hello,

EBay is a great place to get a good deal on a carb, otherwise you will pay about 200$ for a new one. I have a 38 mm Keihin on my lt250r, it worked great last year, but quad has some issues this year. The only problem I have experienced is that the boots are to small (especially going to the reed cage, they don't fit completely tight) and the carb is a real 'joy' to get in and out. Keihin and Mikuni both make 38's, the lt500 came with a 38 mikuni I believe. For keihin the pj (I don't think they make this one any more, but you can get parts at sudco.com) and the pwk. Most of these are for sale on e-bay for varying prices. Also if you don't buy one with a flat side choke it can get in the way of your fmf pipe making it hard to choke.
Good luck, don't know about the jetttin question, sorry!
Keith

Hello,

http://www.moto-man.com sells carburetors for the 250 (87 and up, I don't know why these wouldn't work on an 85, but you could ask them and they would tell you) they only sell a keihin 39pwk for the 250's. Dennis Kirk might also sell them.
E-Bay is a great place to look and you can get them relatively cheap!
From expereince I know that the honda 250r 34 mm stock keihins will work, but you need to buy a new3 mixing chamber cap, cable adjuster cap, cable adjuster, and cable adjuster nut because the honda keihins come prefabbed to fit ony the 250R unless you use the honda throttle!
You can get these parts at sudco.com (1-323-728-5407) they are located in California and there site is great with diagrams for all kinds of carbs and parts #'s and ordering info.
Good Luck!

Hmmm, that sucks that moto won't fit!

Did they say why?

I would look around on ebay, just be careful whom you buy from! Like I said I know that the Honda 250R carbs work on my 87, just have to order the parts I listed before along with a new gasket for the mixing chamber cap, these parts will only cost you about 15$ from sudco.com, plus they break it right down for you with their carb diagrams.
This site sells brand new keihin 39 pwk's for the 85-86, but they are 209$
http://www.carbidesmotoworld.com/catpages/keihinatv.pg
Of course if you want performance you have to pay the price
That is a direct link to the carb page, good luck in your search.

I would go with the Keihin 38mm PWK air stryker. I have one on my 250r and it rocks. My buddy has a 86 lt250r and he has one on his too, he loves it. The easiest way for it to fit on your intake hose is to buy an aftermarket intake. You can pick one up for around $50. Ebay has them on there some time or call up William at 1dirracing I know they have some badass intake setups at least for the 250r.
Or you can do what I did for my buddies lt250r and use a hair dryer and heat up the hose to make it more flexible.
If you buy just a random carb off some other machine more than likely yes youll have to rejet it.
