Default quadracer gearing

I was wondering what kind of gearing you guys like on your quadracers. I'm not sure what I have now, but my quad tops out at 72mph with 22" tires. I dont really need that much top end, I want optimum pickup. I have a 12-42 gearset to put on and I was wondering if I need to get smaller tires too.

I was running a 12/42 on my 86 and switched to a 12/39 for more top end. the 12/42 was to much low end for the kinda riding i do. I would do is spin and when i got traction it was time to slow down. I did like to low end of the 12/42 though.

I have 20X11X10 on it. I love the smaller tire. I run the badlands. They are like the Holeshot.

I like the looks of the mx holeshot but the 18's are a pretty short tire. Are you going to put them on the blaster. You might have to change your gearing though. I had a problem with all the wheel spin so i had to regear it for more topend to reduce wheel spin. Just couldn't get my power to the ground.

I was looking at getting 18" tires with the 12-42 gears, but from the sound of it that will be too low. I am looking to possibly race MX, but most of my riding is in the woods.

Well i really like my 20's with the 12/39. I ride trail and some track too. It is just that the 12/42 was to low for me.
