Default 86 LT250R Bottom End ????

I am putting my new G3 reeds in my 86 and to do so i had to pull off the head to get to the reed set up.When i got my head off i noticed the crank slides back and forth along the crank shaft bearing,It is smooth and seems to be tight when i hold the crank still and pull up and down but i just want to make sure this is normal. If i had to guess i would say yes because the engine was quiet and the piston, rings and internall cyclinder wall seemed good.Thanks...

Congrats on getting the G3's I'm glad people are giving them a try. Not sure about the crank but if the piston looks good and the cylinder looks good I would say its good to go.

are you saying that the rod moves sidways on the crankshaft
if so taht is normal. if it moves up and down then it's crank rebuild time. but side to side play is normal as long as it's not excessive

Let us know how the reeds work out in your 86 LT. If they are as good as everyone is saying then I think I will give them a try in my 86. Not that I don't trust what you say Banshee it is just that reeds work differently in different quads. You know what I mean.

You will be able to tell because it is the only mod that you are doing that will change your powerband. You should feel the powerband hitting lower and reving way higher. You will also see your gas drain a lot quicker. The carb alllows a lot of air/gas mix through but its up to the reeds to really put the mix into the motor. So really your intake system is only as good as your reeds.

Trust me you will feel the G3's

How bad will the gas drain compared to now.I hope not to bad because i do mostly trail riding. It would suck to dump a lot of gas....What is the best way to figure out how long a tank will go and when i hit reserve how much gas is left...Thanks

I usually fill up every day riding. I used to ride a couple days on a tank. So it's not like your tank will be gone in an hour. What you should do is find what your tank fits. Then go ride and keep an eye on it and just figure how long it will take to go empty. I would not imagine not being able to ride a full day unless your riding all out for 8 hours but everyone will need to fill up after that. Sorry I gave you a scare on the gas draining thing, but burning gas is a good thing.
