Temple Canyon Hill Climb

The Colorado Hill Climb Association (CHCA) held its first event of the 2010 season on May 8 and 9. CHCA typically kicks off its season every year in beautiful Canon City, Colorado on Motherís Day weekend. CHCA has been sanctioning hill climb events in Colorado for over 30 years.
The race course near Canon City winds through Temple Canyon. The course has a variety of terrain with one extremely long strait of way and numerous twists and turns. A total of 56 cars, trucks and ATVís took to the course on Saturday, May 8, 2010 for practice and qualifying.
Duncan Racing International (DRI) rider, Jim Vidmar, the 2009 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb quad class champion looked to start the 2010 season right where he left off in 2009. Jim was the fastest qualifier and race winner at the CORE Hill Climb, the final CHCA event of 2009. After Saturdayís practice concluded Jim was on top of the leader board and had qualified in the first position with a time of 3:31.05.
As Jim prepared for the race on Sunday he was confident he could improve on his times from Saturday and score his first win at Temple Canyon. Jim had a successful first run on Sunday and finished with a solid time of 3:28.17 which put him in first place, over eight seconds faster than the second place rider, Troy Smith. Jim was determined to improve on his first run time and claim victory. Jim pushed himself to the limits of the road and improved his time on his second run. Jim finished with a time of 3:27.22 claiming the overall quad victory.
Jimís DRI 500cc Banshee performed flawlessly the entire weekend. The Paul Turner racing exhaust and Fat Boy 2 silencers along with all of the DRI products found on Jimís bike gave him what he needed to score the victory.
