picked me up a 79 yz250 for 100 bucks the other day, got an amazing deal, its pretty much all there minus some bolts and the stator cover and some of the plastics. the engine is completely fresh, top and bottom end, got some engine parts ordered and i'm in contact with 3 others about the other parts i need, the plastics are rough, but this is just a partial restoration to make it rideable...

i'll run the covers if i send them out for some work, i'm really not comfortable with myself doing seals and stuff like that, i'v watched a couple tutorials, i'm just not 100% shure on it...... but yeah, we may run it a lil without them for now, it looks to me as if the seals are okay, one of them has a tad bit of oil around it, but thats it......but in the future i plan to send the forks and maybe the rear shock out..

Tank restoration is a lot of work but is better when you sand them. The paint will bubble from oil embedded on the surface of the tank.

The best way to restore the plastic is here:

Forget that it's a four stroke site, but the author knows his stuff when it comes to restoring the plastic tank if you are wanting to paint the tank. The key to this is using the right cleaner and sealer on the inside of the tank.
