Default Strap Wrench

Has anyone ever tried to use a strap wrench to hold the flywheel while tourqing it?

If so....did it work?

yes...we bought them just for this and i didn't think it would work. It makes loosening it very easy, but putting it on is a little difficult. When i went to torque it down, i had to get another person to use the torque wrench, and i had to use all the strength i had to hold on the to strap wrench and keep it from slipping. That nut has to be torqued down pretty tight so it was a job keeping that thing from slipping, but overall it was a good idea IMO.

A buddy of mine uses that $20 12v tire impact gun from Harbor Freight. Works great.

put it in 6th gear, and hold the rear brake and hit it with an impact. its the best way ive found to keep the flywheel in place without damaging it.
