Default 25 mile trail ride yesterday Long Post

Went on a benefit 25 mile trail ride yesterday for the local fire Department in Mass,
I’ll take you back one week ago yesterday and fill you in from there.
Last Sunday a group of friends, my son and I went on a trail ride to the summit at Devils Peek one of our local ridding spots. My son and I were on 2strokes (I was on our 86 trail boss 2wheel drive and my son on his blaster) and our friends took their pit bikes to see if they could make it to the top. Needless to say we had a good time and a lot of laughs watching them trying to stay upright in the rocky trails covered with leaves.
We met up with the people that were putting on a ride for the local fire department and they told us about the ride that was coming up for the 29th, great bunch of people. They said that they would run it in three classes 4wheel drives, sport quads and family group. The ride was for a good cause and sounded like fun so there was no way we weren’t going on it.
They told us that some of the trails were not going to be easy because of the steep grades, stream crossings and rocks, that made up our minds as to what we would be ridding.
Yesterday we showed up with my son’s blaster and our 86 lt250r, unloaded the truck fired them up and let them warm up. There were about 200 quads and most of them were 4wheel drives. The lt250r drew some attention and questions but it was all good. My son enjoyed the feed back that it caused.
The ride started as scheduled and it was a real challenge following the 4/4 quads. They had some difficulty on the first hill that had what I would call soupy mud covering it that was about 250’ long with a slight pitch sideways. They had to crawl up it sometimes stopping to restart witch created one hell of a traffic jam and giving me second thoughts about the ride. My son went up four quads ahead of me and the traffic was moving so I new he made it. When it was my turn at the hill I started from the stream bed and was roosting all the way till I came up behind a friend that was going over backwards on her quad. Some how I managed to jump off mine and stop hers from rolling over on to her. The guy behind me seen what was going on and he rode up to my quad to stop it from rolling & sliding back down the hill. She said that she couldn’t make the hill and asked if I would bring it up for her. I did but now I realized how hard it was to restart her machine on the hill with out going over backwards. I give all the woman and kids that went on that trail credit for making that one hill climb. Now I had to walk down the hill to get the lt250r. The guy who stopped my quad from sliding down the hill new what he was in for LOL he tried to back down some so he wouldn’t get too much roosting but the ground busters just covered him and two other quads.
The organizers had clearly marked out the ride with ribbons every hundred feet or so but some #!!Hole was pulling them down that resulted in many not knowing what trail to go down. Total confusion. We met up with one of the organizers and he told us that he is looking for the guy who was pulling the markers down and to keep our eyes open and gave us directions where to meet up with everyone. We new some of the trails and were becoming familiar with our location so we proceeded to the meeting spot he told us about.
I was following my son around a corner and low and behold here was the gentleman that was standing on his quad tearing down the trail markers. Prior to this my son, I and about 30 other riders were totally lost on the trails looking for markers for about 25 min so we could meet up with the others. My 15 year old son rode up to this jerks quad and hit the rear just hard enough to send him ass over teakettle of the side of his machine. I don’t condole what he did but at that point but I would have done the same. This guy got back on his Polaris and took off. I was proud of my son but as a parent I just smiled and asked if he was all right.
After we met up with the other riders in an open field and rested, the ride continued back to the club. All in all it was a great day except for a couple of incidents and the moron pulling the trail markers it was a lot of fun.

That sounds fun....we have a couple of big rides out here in utah like that ..... the piaute trail and the atv jamboree....the jamboree is huge.....a ton of the people are old though so they don't like it to much when you burn by em on a shee or trike because they are enjoying the day going 2 mph on their griz or rhino.....but it raises money for firefighters or something and it is a pretty good time.... there were a bunch of cops riding and drinking last year.....pretty funny group when they don't have a badge on..

There's nothing like that here. but sometimes we get about 10 people and just cruise in 1st or 2nd gear. I usualy hand back so i can clear out my engine with some revs. Good stuff. Glad you and your son enjoyed yall self!
