i trail ride my blaster, tight turns, run 1/4 throttle alot of the times, streem crossing, it does good, turns as good as the familys utillitys except a 96 trx 300 utillity, truns in a 5 ft circle atleast it seams like it, then in area where i can pass i blow by them all then go back to them, some of the spots i could not make it through if it was 2 in wider. its small and light but a shee would do good i think

i trail ride my banshee and my yfz, but they both have thier pros & cons about them. with the banshee i usually ride around in the mid range of what ever gear works best for that trail so ive allways got the pipe ready for the short blasts here and there. the yfz has more torque and can be lugged around alot more, witch makes it a little more usable on slower/tighter trails, but when you do get to a wide open spot it just kind of leaves you wanting a little more on top. just my .02. a banshee is a good trail quad as long as you dont over build it to the point that is a topend motor with no bottom end grunt.

I dont know but personally i think some of those new 450's would be a lil too wide for some trail riding. My buddy has a suzuki 450 and id much rather take my she or 250r in the trails then that thing..

I think that the blaster would be the thing to get. If you decide on a 400 4-stroke just get a blaster. A blasty may be a little small but its not bad. The only reason im saying this is because I have a blaster, if I had a banshee I would tell you how fun it is to pass you friend that has a completely tricked out 450, when all you have is your engine ported and decent pipes. Go with the quad you think is best. Like most people say, "Just ride each one and take your pick.", that would be good advice.

I trial ride my shee alot, and i just keep it in lower gears to keep mid range power.
there's a couple 4 pokes that don't keep up with me and some of the trailes are really tight!! If most of the riding area you have is so tight that you crawl through alot of areas, then maybe a 4poke would be better, but if you can keep atleast 10 mph of speed, then 2 stroke is what I would do. good luck.. oh yea I would NOT cut down the swingarm. I consider my shee mostly stock, just some bolt ons and it was bored .020 and if I crack the throttle in first or second, it WILL stand straight up, so if you don't want a wheelie machine then don't cut it, but if thats what you want it for then there ya go..

I used a stock 01 shee for trails years ago when I first got it and it was fine and I loved driving it I would recommend it just take tors etc off.

I'm going to have to agree with LT250Racer. The 250R is by far your best choice.

IMO a banshee is a poor choice for anything besides sand or... People do it use them on trails, but they are far from ideal... hope you have good clutch control...

no offense guys b ut he asked for the pros and cons of trail riding a banshee..
and whats this BS about clutch control? i ONLY trail ride my banshee and the only time i use my clutch is to upshift or downshift..just like every other quad.i think some people that dont trail ride think the only type of trails that exist are 4 feet wide with rocks all over them. where i "trail" ride, i rarely use anything below 3rd gear, perfect banshee material
and why cant a banshee be ridden on anything other than sand?!that doesnt make much sense
opinions are like assholes..
