Default Banshee Bogging. Need advice.

Hey Guys. Just got done fixing up a Banshee that I bought. Need some help on a problem I'm having. I purchased a 1996 banshee. It was in need of some parts as it did not run due to no spark.
Here is a list of the parts I put on:
*set of 06 stock carbs
*Ricky Stator Adj. Timing Plate,Pick up and CDI Box.
* Pro Comp. Tors removal kit.
My spark issue ended up being the CDI.
The problem I now have is the bike seems to bogg in acceleration right as I go to take off. Once I get past that spot she runs ok. Sometime it will pop or backfire a little bit. Something just is not right. I was wondering if maybe it was the timing. I set the timing mark on the zero mark where the casings meet. Do you think that is correct or maybe it needs to go back or forward more a bit ? Any suggestions are much appreciated.

  1. Is the pickup correctly gapped?
  2. What has been done to the machine as far as exhaust and intake mods?
  3. What is your jetting at now, main, pilot, needle clip position?

Sounds like you may be lean from idle to 1/4 throttle, also, I would advance the timing 3-4 degrees and run 93+ octane..........

What is the correct gap for the pickup. I will have to check it.
The exhaust and intake are stock. Just a boost bottle.
The jetting is all stock. What ever yamaha put in there.
I am currently running 93 and will turn the timing ahead.
Thanks.

Between .015 and .020, use feeler guages to check, also check your flywheel key, it could shear and cause the backfiring, but it would probably run like crap throughout the rpm range, if that was the case......

Default Banshee dead spot on the throttle

Hey guys here is an update. Today. I removed the carbs cleaned them. I then advanced the timing +4 degrees and checked the pickup space. It was at 0.20
I set the air screws at 2 turns out. I then let the bike warm up and took it for a ride. It still has the same dam problem. When you first give it gas it hesitates before it takes off. You actually have to play with the throttle to get it past that point then she takes off. Once you slow back down and stop she does it again every time.It was about 55 degrees out today. Puzzled ???????????????????

I have an '01 banshee. stock engine, and pipes. I just put open air filters on it and when i re-installed the carbs i put the slides in backwords(im a moron) and it bogged on the bottom end. Once it got to the top end it ran good, but it bogged bad on the bottom end. I put the slides in the right way and she rips good now. Somethin worth lookin at.
