headlights gone bad

for some reason when i built the quad the firsat time i fired her up the headlights went out so i spent 30 bucks on new bulbs and they blew out again...what could be the cause of this is there a short somewhere and where could the short be at. please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad voltage regulator.

yeah, get a voltmeter or multi meter and check the volts coming out of that headlight socket while your reving it. it shouldnt go much higher than 12v

Also, you want new cheaper lighgts check out ebay. i picked 2 bulbs up for like $9.99 that have like a bright wite/ blue tint to them, loook real nice

what is a voltage regulator also isnt there some box in the back that could be the problem...

On the back of the machine, there are 2 boxes, one is Black, one is Silver.....the smaller Silver box is the voltage regulator.......

I've got a silver regulator somewhere I believe in a bin of parts off my shee. I don't need it, I don't run lights. I'll give it to you for shipping...
My lights worked fine when I took my bike all apart. I just gotta find it....
It's either a shorted wire or bad regulator...

yo man thanks it has to be the regulator cause i had an electician go over the wring when i finished the bike and the lighhts works for like a half hour the first night we fired her up...and man she is fast unbeliveably fast....i have another frame in my garage next store im gonna check to see if it has a egulator on it if not i will pay for shipping and stuff thanks alot man i appreciate it

I should have my bin of parts and my bike back this weekend. I'll look through there.
There is a slight chance I threw it out...but, you can find 'em on ebay and on the forums for dirt cheap a lot of times.
