banshee shifting problem

had the banshee out first time this year ..........man it road great till the end ..the out of the blue when i would go to shift it would go through the gears but there was no power...... the chain will not turn when i give it gas ...but will go through all gears..is it possible that a shear pin or a key was sheared or something way worse..????? any in-put will be greatly appreciated ...

Couple weeks ago at maysville,our 99's front sprocket bolt came off,and the sprocket fell off of the splines and onto the threaded end of the trans shaft.So it made it do what your saying,i would check it maybe youll get lucky,but it sounds like a clutch problem to me

but when i put it in gear it still rolls like its out of gear ...with the clutch going out it will still roll freely in every gear ??I'm new to the ATV..trail ridding thing i wasn't for-sure that it would be a clutch i was kinda thinking more internal but when this happened..... i did roll down a kinda steep hill mud & sand at bottom got stuck..stalled the bike started again went to let the clutch out an nothing but engine revs.... i heard nothing break neither did my friend also if this helps any when i push the shifter down the shifter still fells like its shifting gears but nothing but free roll like stuck in neutral

ya sond like cluch if it was inturnal(gears) you would hear bad noise(most the time) it is the cluch that conects the tranny to the moter

something like that happened to me but my shifter was stuck like in 3rd gear and when me and my mechanic took the engine apart to take a look there was nothing wrong with the tranny, it looked great, so could it be the clutch then

Sounds like a clutch issue...Almost sounds like it's out of adjustement or the clutch is toast...

well im about to install a new clutch so i hope thats the problem

if it rolls with the clutch pulled in theres a good chance the clutch fingers are badly grooved not allowing the plates to relaese/seperate and yo u need a new basket too .id check it out

agreed, and it is a rare occurence but the rivets that hold the drive gear to the clutch basket can sheer off but it's usualy followed by a crunching sound...
