| i put a new chain on my banshee and a new smaller sprocket in front i did not change out the rear one because it looked almost new. i rode it for about 6 hrs and then the chain started to skip and rounded the teeth off the rear sprocket by the time i got back to camp. the guy at the local bike shop who i paid to put the new chain on said that i need to replace both sprockets and chain if it did that. do i really or just throw a cheap rear sprocket on it till i can afford to replace it all?

| idealy your supposed to replace the chain and both sprockets as a set so they wear into each other but you can replace them one at a time, it will just make a little extra noise. i do mine like that all the time but i ride sand and idiot holes chew up rear sprockets like 4-1 vs fronts...
