| high ignition timing makes starting a banshee harder ...... wel l we know yo ugot good compression and good spark and adding fuel directly to the cylinders gets the engine going so it needs fuel ....yo uneed to richen your slow circuit jetting , what size pilots and even needle clip are yo u using ?

| Hmmmm, dang, I forgot I have it advanced about 5 degrees. I did that last year, never rode it afterward, just put it away for winter. Duh. Guess I better check on that. I'm running stock needles in the middle position and 32.5 pilots. I really like the increased torque the head you did for me supplies. Really gave some nice improvement on the bottom end.

| Kane...your pilots are HUGE...especially if you're running a K&N filter in the box. drop them down to a 27.5... There is no way that motor needs 32.5 pilots... I've run those big of pilots on alky bikes (which...need to flow a LOT more) I'd check the basics, like coil resistance, proper air gap, fresh plugs, etc. Then I'd be removing the carbs and removing all jets, cleaning the daylight out of them. I'd bet it's either a simple electrical problem...or...a plugged pilot/low speed circuit. Needles have no effect on starting. Also might want to make sure the floats are adjusted fine, and the reeds don't have too large of a gap. 5 degrees of timing is fine...and .020 isn't a whole lot off the head, most run .025 to .030. | I've yet to tear into it since I set it aside last week. I'll add your info to the list of shit to look into. Thanks.

really 27.5 pilots would probably be close ....i cut his head, it is actually .035 off ...... equaling approx. a 20.8cc dome

| Denny...did you ever cc his head after the shave? I've seen stock heads anywhere from 21.5 cc's to almost 24cc...go figure, no consistency... Do you rechamber the head or recut the squish angle?? |

| usually they are around 23.5cc stock in my experiance but can vary atleast .5cc and from dome to dome sometimes 1cc ,thats why i say it is approximate
