Default Head studs stripped

I just purchased a set of jugs with a fresh set of 70mm sleeves and pistons I am getting ready to install them on my 4 mil but i have a problem on like 3 of the head stud holes in each jug is stripped out, someone tried to helicoil them but that did'nt work.I thought about having the holes welded solid and just drilling and tapping new holes but I'm just wondering if there is anything else i should try before doing this

Maybe try new heli coils and use epoxy to keep them in real tight. I have to take a look at my jugs but maybe you can drill the holes deeper and tap new threads and use longer studs.

you can always try drilling them out to the next size up and retaping them. had to do that on 2 head bolts on a 94 cr250

you should use a stepped stud or a threaded insert. the insert is better than the helicoil. i like to use stepped studs kinda like what they do with the 87 zilla's. usually the hole is already blowed out from the helicoil so you might be able to get away with just running a tap down there and having your local machine shop to make you a coupld of stepped studs. one size being the thread size/pitch of the hole and the other end being the standard head stud thread/pitch. hope that helps.

Correct me if i'm wrong but are you talking about a stud with like 10 or 12mm on one side and 8mm on the other

If you epoxy I would use the epoxt that comes in the tube, that you cut to size & mix with your hands. It states on the package that once dry it is hard as steel & can be redrilled/filed/grinded. I dont know if this will work for you though, you have a very heavy modded engine.

imo weld it back and re-drill the hole.....its the best way to fix it where you don't have to worry about it breaking again.
