| Ok so I picked up this Banshee back in November and pretty much It ran the day I bought it and the next day after that it would'nt start, I checked the comp. and it was @ 85-90 on both side so I decided the fast lap I did up and down the street must have been the last little bit the top end it had left, and since the guy told me it had never been rebuilt even though it was a 92 I did'nt call him and bitch him out I new it was gonna need a topend and it was cheap so I figured oh well. so last month I finally got the cylinders bored and got a rebuild kit and threw some reeds in it while I was at it, so today I put a fresh tank of gas in it and tried to start it and no luck. It isn't even trying to start (sigh) so now I'm stuck with it, I can only figure electrical or the carbs aren't right. anybody got any sugestions? the thing I'm stuck on is it ran great when I bought it? it's got: new Wiseco pistons, Toomey tr6's, K&N filter, jetted, boost bottle, and Vforce3 reeds

| ok I'll try that and see what happens, what exactly does carbs out of sync mean? the air/fuel screws are different? the jet needles aren't on the same notch? one of them is clogged or something?

| there out of sync if you take off your air filter lookin the carb and both slides dont bottom out at the same time, or open up at the same time, or open all the way together...etc... you adjust this in the cable |

| If your compression is at 85-90lbs on a fresh build you got a problem. Maybe your cylinders are full of water?

| The carbs being out of sync wouldnt cause it to be totaly dead and not even fire. It would be harder to start,or maybe not even start, but it would still fire a little. I have accidentaly put several sets of banshee slides in the wrong way and they would all start, then run like crap.Dont get me wrong out of sync carbs is a bad thing, but you should still be able to get it to fire. Im willing to bet your either getting weak or no spark If you have fuel+spark+compression it should start. Checking for spark is easy. Take the plugs out and kick it over with the end of the plug touching steel and see if it sparks. Kick it over a whole bunch at WOT and then take the plugs out and see if fuel is getting to the plugs. Check the cmpression on the rebuild. Last edited by superevil; 03-19-2008 at 04:31 AM. |

First thing I'd do if it's been sitting is remove each carb, one at a time, can clean it out thoroughly from sitting. Gummed up carb jets and passages can cause hard starting. Did you check compression after the rebuild? And as said, check for spark... But I'd be cleaning the carbs real good first... |

| Yea as Dajoger said I had 85psi when I got it and now with the new top end it's at 135psi, I did pull the plugs out and see them spark as well as pull the airbox off and see that carbs were in sync then I pulled them out and am gonna clean em and check the jet sizes and screw adjustments (obviously I don't trust the guy I bought it from) but one thing my co-worker pointed out last night is I'm cheap and didn't buy a manual and I might have missed a small detail like what type of plugs it takes, and sure enough I bought the plugs my Kawi takes! so I guess I'll go get the right ones today clean the carbs up and see what happens, if this does'nt work my next guess would be timing or coil?
