Man I am in a bind here. I can not for the life of me get my axle to come out from the carrier. I had some play in there so figured I would change out the bearings and go from there. Before I even started to take it apart I soaked everything with PB blaster and let it sit overnight. Now the axle wont even budge, I have tried the BFH trick with no success and several other techniques. At this point I could care less about the carrier and would like to at least save the axle if not both. The sprocket side bearings are now completely shot from me trying to break everything free over the past few hours. I guess I lost patience. I have had issues like this before but not nearly this bad. I dont even think its the sprocket side of the bearing that are binding me up and I believe its the disc side but either way I can get it to budge. Any ideas? I would just bust the bearings and be done with it but you can get to the bearings on the disc side so thats a no go I guess.

I always put a 2x12 on the ground and slam the axle down on it while trying to hold the carrier. It usualy works pretty good.

another problem I have is I was going to take the disc off and just beat the sh!t out of the carrier till it either broke free or I have to cut it off with a wheel but I apparently have one stripped allen head for the disc. # came out no issues then the last one was a no go so I will prob have to grind the head right off if I cant get this carrier off.

Dont be scared put the carrier in a vise and put the nut on the end of the axel get ur self a piece of wood and start hammerin!

as hard as I have been beating on this thing I dont think a vise is going to make a difference. I'm letting it soak up some more in PB blaster and see what happens after I get done with it tomorrow.

well a whole lot of heat and about 2hrs of hitting it with a BFH it is finally off. The axle is saved but I dont even want to deal with trying to get these bearings out now. So anyone have an extra carrier? lol

The bearings are Effin easy to get out. If they came apart, you can take a dremel tool and cut the race in half and it will come out.

after all the BS i have dealt with for this carrier I could care less about getting these wasted bearings out. I would rather just buy a used carrier, there not exactly a lot of money. My time to deal with this one carrier isnt worth the ride time I will give up with the little time I have to begin with.

| I'd try to get the bearings out, BTW what year is this for?
