Default Possible for a Banshee to run on one cylinder?

I traded for a 2001 Yamaha Banshee and the left exhaust quit pushing. The Banshee dies while in neutral and sputters while in 1st and 2nd gear.. I took it to a local shop and they said that the left side had 0 compression. This guy started throwing figures out there. Hey also tried to get me to buy new carbs and so forth. The left exhaust works when the rpm's are high. It gets hot as well.. Is this guy just trying to get some money out of me or is it possible that I'm running with one cylinder?

no mine will run on one cyl and yea it will run on 2 once it gets going cause it clder is movin so fast is dosent have time to loose all compresssion....it still run hot cause it could be runnin lean on the cylender .......no you do not need carbs sounds like you might broke a ring or a skirt on the piston ......pop you head off... cheak make sure it hasent been bored out and no major cyl wall damage as been done....order up a set of wisco pistons from RJATV.COM and break it in if your not to mechanically inclinded get a friend to help or do the hole thing....dealers will charge the ass off you and they dont allways doo a good job......oh you could also take it to a local engine builder if you have one ....i donno

Hey it has been bored though.... Would I still be able to replace the rings and skirts to get it running or is that a whole different ball game?

if you can get the cylinder to work at high rpms then you must have compression. but i would test it myself. go get a decent craftsman one or somthing. if your into 2 strokes i guarantee you use it again. if thats good (should be around 120 with stock head) i would check your carbs or boots for leaks. jetting might also be off. i replaced half the damn engine on mine cause one of my cylinders kept cutting out only to find i was running too lean.

The guy I traded with told me that it was running a little too rich on the bottom end and told me to get a smaller pilot jet for my carbs.. Should I make that approach before I do anyting?

how are the plugs on it too? i would make that and the condition of your top end the 1st approach

all you do is order pistons.rings and wrist pin...head gaskit ......ussaly come as a kit.....just make sure you order them ....with like.40 over or w/e its bored out you will need to cheak this usally stamped in the top of pistons.....no you dont have to have compression.....i have seen sleds that wouldnt hold compression but when you would rip them up the road that cyl would start hittin ......not strong but you could feel it.....when you roling it over you doing it like 5 times then lettin it sit with a motor runin at lets say 7000 rpm thats just over 116 revalutions a second is dosent have time to leak that little bit out buy the piston there it will have lets say 50 PSI in teh cyl when it sparks....hard to explane but i have been there

How much is a bore worth? If I buy the parts how much in labor should I pay? The guy told me $800 with parts and all..

just some advice man i might check into it myself or with someone i trust before i start just buying parts. some people will tell you anything just to make a buck. take it or leave it buddy. good luck
