anybody use msd ignition

hi i just get a msd ignition from a guy and he didn t give me much information about cause he get his bike with it .i wanted to kno if it need battery to run cause i see two wire one black and one yellow.and these wire ain t hook up nowhere .so i was wondering wat it for ?thanks seb
