Default Banshee not starting or shutting off

Hey everyone my name is Eric and Im new here at E2S!!!
Well theres a problem with my dads 96 Banshee. We went to go riding one day and it wouldnt start. Ok figure it hasnt been ran in awhile so thats the case. Well shoot it with some starting fluid and it starts right up. Runs ok but not the greatests. Next ride same thing. Get starting fluid and she runs. Then it dies after a ride down the road. So we get it home and start it up to adjust the carbs and rejet it. All hell breaks loose. Went to rev it up and the throttle sticks. The run/off switch wont kill the motor and the teather wont kill it either. Im not sure exactly what he did to kill it but i think he pulled the fuel lines to the carbs. I couldnt see I was waitin for it to blow up so I stepped back. We pushed it in the barn and havent messed with it since. That happend back in August and I got Banshee fever really bad and want to get it running again. Please Help!!

Sorry if its a re-post I had it in the wrong section!!

well sence you messed with the carbs (jetting) i would say rip the carbs back off and clean them really good. make sure you put the slides in there own carbs... (bevel on the slide to the back) after that chcek the cable (throttle) see if its sticky. and normaly the easy was to get a banshee to stall when it reving like that is hold the rear back and drop it in gear.. harsh on the gears but easier then letting it blow up.

sounds like there could be an air leak....what did you all do with the carbs? and the jetting, did you go richer or leaner? it could just be old shitty gas in there also, same problem with my shee it had gas sitting in it since december and hasnt ran much till now, the gas smelt bad and after putting fresh gas in it it ran a little better and started easier.

Well we drained the old gas and put new in so that shouldnt be the problem. I think we went from 380s to 270s on the jets. I think. It may be the throttle cabel being bad too, and my dads friend gave us an old ignition coil to use to see of that could be a problem also.

Air leak or throttle is sticking...

Make sure the tube that goes between the two carbs (called choke tube or fuel enrichment tube) is in place as well.

I would be willing to bet air/leak. Probrably intake boot due to the fact had carbs off. I had one rev on me thought it was going to blow turned out to be the main seals had big leak.
