hey guys just bought an 03 banshee for my son, she starts up first kick no matter how long she has been sittin, the guy who I bought it from said it was ported for the dunes, cool head, fmf pipes, other that that not sure how the motor is all set up...my problem is that she seems like she has no bottom end what so ever, it has no hit of the power band. Its like the thing just builds up to the power, havent had a cance to determine if it has a air leak in the motor creating a lean condition, or the porting is not rite....has anyone had a problem with this

thats just it i dont have any hit what so ever, its like the engine on the way to hit the power band just keeps on going like the motor is building up to it, than its just balls to the wall, no hit just like building up to it.

Sometimes it amazes me the kinda answers you get around here.... It all depends on the porting. Starting on first kick is usually a good thing, but you really need to read your plugs. It could be out of tune, it could be too agressive of porting. Normally, and again...depending on who actually ported the motor, a "dune" port will start making power mid RPM ranges (say 5000 to 6000 RPMs) and pull to the top of the RPMs. No two builders port the same way, however. Read the plugs. Try moving the needle richer two spots, then leaner two spots, see if that makes a difference. If not, one of three things. 1. Electrical problem, no jetting in the world is going to help that. 2. Air leak, no jetting will help that 3. Port setup... nothing you can do except see if someone wants to mellow out the port IF they can. Not many builders will touch other's work, and there may not be enough material to work with. Sort through the jetting and electrical first.... ![]() |

Thank you so much for the information you provided, i looked at the plugs yesterday and they look really white with a light brown haze around the center of the electrode, i dont think I have ran it that long to get a good enough read on the new plugs i put in last week. Can i still have an electrical problem if everything works, lights start up, spark...is there a test procedure I can run for any of the components found on my bike? I think I may have a leak gonna dig out the leakdown tester this weekend.

Sounds a little lean, the brown is a good sign.
