Default '87-'06 Banshee Owners

I realized there are quite a few Banshee owners on this site.
My questions are: Through the years what were the changes in the Banshee?
Were they all just kick start? Or was electronic ignition available?
Any differences in compression? HP?
The Pro's and Con's of certain years?
Your advice on certain mods, or products or services to stay away from.
Thanks Everyone

if memory serves me correctly, the 87-89 had the upper j-arm front suspention and the larger bolt pattern on the rear wheel hubs. i also think that the electrical system changed slightly once or twice, the last time being in 01. the starting has allways been kick, its allways had six gears and the hp has probably allways been the same, allthough some people say that thier titles have hp #'s that are different than others. the title to my 05 does not have a hp # on it. im sure im leaving out a small thing or two, someone else will probably come up with something. the design of the plastics have never changed only the colors, and the only change to the frame was when yamaha added the upper a-arm in place of the j-arm. overall the banshee has remained the same machine.

dont build a big-bore on a bike with factory jugs....lots of people have overheating problems, and they just plain run like ass....if your gonna go big-bore, get a cub.

oh, as far as differences, strokeittwice pretty much has it nailed. i'm not sure of the years of electrical changes, but he's right, they did change...also, the old J-arm bikes have different front brakes and spindles.

So if everything is correct, then if needed an '87 engine could be bolted into an '06 and run, no problem?
As for electric start, they all had it right?

no electric start on any of them. yes a engine from an 87 will fit and work in any year banshee. the change in the elecrical system was very small, i believe it was really only just the design of the wire connectors. there is no electric starter on any year banshee.

Well that's gonna put a damper on things then.
I guess there's no way to add it either. May have to go a different route then.

why is electric start so important? and as far as boost bottles go they do nothing but tear holes in your intake boots which cause airleaks that lead to blown up shit, if your tryin to build whats in your sig... then fuck the electric start get rid of it.... its just less junk on the bars, or more room for something else.....and really if i were you i would look into a 500 or 750 2stroke to put into your 600....if thats what we are talking about here
