Question Blaster hard to start

Hey everyone,
Im new here.Sounds like a good place to learn something.I am having trouble starting my blaster. My son pulls me with his and it fires perfect and runs great. It has good compression , sometimes I can kick start it but its getting worse. Is this a common thing with blasters? A friend had one to do the same thing,he sold his.I want to keep mine its fun and fast..Any help would be appreciated.Thanks..

The fact that it is slowly getting worse probably means something is getting dirty or worn out. One thing to look at is your reed valve. They don't last forever. If they are cracked, chipped, or bent more than 1mm (I think that is the wear limit in the manual), they should be replaced. Another thing would be to dissassemble the carb and blow everything out with compressed air. If neither of these things work then it could be something in your ignition system. Just keep in contact on this board and someone will help you out.

mine started doing this after some time...try this...before you start it, or try to start it, turn the gas on and lift the front of the blaster up until fuel spills out of the overflow tube on the carb. set it down and try to start it, if it starts with 1 or 2 kicks after that, youll need to take the carb off and clean it, and readjust the float level to specs.

I have cleaned the carb ,even changed the carb, new reed valve ,new plug.I have also changed the coil.Sometimes it will not start with the kick start. If I pull it it always starts and runs fine.I checked the spark. No spark .Anyone know why it will run when pulled?I know now its something in the firing.Just finding it.

What coil did you replace? The one that the spark plug connects too or the one underneath the rotor on the left side of the engine?

The one on the frame going to the plug.I checked the + side wire with a volt meter and when I cranked it the needle showed fire going to the coil. When I connected the coil it showed very little fire on the same wire.

Here is the electrical trouble shooting from the manual. The spark plug cap uncrews from the end of the ignition coil if you didn't know how that comes off. I had a problem with my spark plug cap once. It had an intermitent short in it. I would get it started ride a half mile from home, hit a bump, and the engine would just die and I couldn't get it restarted. I pushed the damn thing home twice.
