| So I bought a 1991 Blaster in good condition for 200 dollars. It has a Vitos performance piston in it. Thats all I know. The problem is I can not kick start it what so ever. The kick start doesn't even come down. Now I don't know anything about quad's and especially a blaster. Would could my problem be and how can I fix it? The previous owner thought it was an engine problem and changed out the piston.... it never ran after that....any clues or hints are appreciated. Regards, Otniel |

| Any tips for the Blaster are appreciated too....like mixing gas and oil or taking things apart before I get this thing to run. Thanks again. |

| 1st thing...Welcome and people on this site will help you get your blaster running. 2nd thing.....BUY A SERVICE MANUAL. The first place I would start with your problem is taking your clutch cover off. Its the cover on the right side of your engine. It might be something as simple as the kickstarter wasn't installed in the correct spot. There is a "stop" on the back side of the kickstarter gear. That "stop" has to be lined up in the correct channel on the engine case. A service manual would have pictures of what I am trying to describe....you know pictures can be worth a thousand words sometimes.

| So the kick starter won't move at all... It is probably seized... and since the piston was replaced it's probably a bottom end issue. Just a guess... but that's a lot more expensive to fix than a siezed piston. Nice thing about Blasters though... you can do a hell of a lot of the work by yourself with a basic set of tools and some patience. If you're affraid to get in there and start ripping into the engine cases... bring it to a shop and have them diagnose the problem.

| can you pull start it by towing it or drifting it down a hill and try catching it in gear??

| Ive heard some nasty stories about internal damage caused by "catching it in gear" when the engine is seized.
