Default Cylinder studs

Just wanted to get some info on you studs.... lol i mean your cylinder studs... what should i put on them for locking them in place... i heard something about heli coil but i'm not sure what that is... i was thinking lock tight but maybe that might not be good because of the heat...

i heli coiled all mine all you need is a tap that fits the holes and you need to buy these little coils that will fit your studs and you should figure out how to do it from there

i've never though of the idea of using a bolt vs stud until now. im sure it was just to make it "easier" to put the head on with the gasket. also i'm sure it was made that way for ease of assembly when they were first assembled by yamaha.

you probably could take the studs out using two nuts tightened to eachother. or vise grips if you wanna get destructive.

oh and if you use a heli-coil make sure you drill straight!

My thinking on using bolts would be they would have to be the perf. lenght. They would have to bottom out as you put the proper tourque to them. I know I always try to bottom out my studs as i put them on. I also use locktight red on mine.

You can use a 5.5mm(???) socket to remove your studs. Vise grips usually slip alot but you never know.

to remove your studs just lock two nuts together on the stud ans use a wrench to remove them.

i was thinking about using bolts too but i would be worried they wont bottom out when torqued and i would strip the threads...also my heli coils are starting to strip too do they make bigger studs?? or should i just try the bolts and tell you guys how they work?
