| that figure seems pretty accurate.round here a decent used blaster goes for about 1000-1500.if the entire chasis/suspension will be aftermarket it may be a little higher. |

| Find a decent one used, and go from there......I was thinking the same thing once......get a frame here, an engine here.......but you can find running Blasters for $500-$800.........at least around here........

| well being that i tinker with engines so much, im from the school of thought that id rather put most of the money into engine performance than handeling or body although i wouldnt want the bike ot be a rolling pile of dung either ,id buy a decent used one for like a grand and completely work over the engine(big bore, stroker porting,38mm carb , whole nine) to kill bigger bore four stroke quads , seeing the look on a raptor owners face after he gets his ass repeatedly handed to him by a blaster is priceless IMO .i like hearing people say "what the fuck is done to that thing ? "

ha ha thats one of the very reasons I want to do this for, have a bike that hardly anybody has respect for anymore.........untill it beats em using less than have the cc's of the other guy, makes it all worth it then. but I want to build it to be able to ride everywhere, pretty much an all-around performance blaster. but I think it would be a wasted idea if you just dumped all the money into engine performance and nothin else. then you couldnt hardly even use all the power its got cause it would be bouncing and wheelieing all over the place and just not be fun to ride cause you couldnt control it. what I was thinking for suspension was some ASR +3 +1 a-arms from ebay for $350, some brand new works dual rate front shocks $350 , or if I catch a pair of something better on ebay for cheap. +4 swingarm from "the swingarm shop" on ebay for $200, +4 gforce axle for $200, and pick up a clean 250r rear shock on ebay for around $80 to $120. I think with all that it would make a pretty awesome handling blaster for the trails, wide enough to make it stable in the turns and slides for when you racin or playin around in the field, and plenty of suspension to handle the roughest ground you can find.

| i really think it depends on the cash flow and commitment. a guy i used to ride with decided to build a banshee from the ground up. he doesn't regret the time and money (6,500) he put into it because he's always saying " I have exactly what i want with no junk spare parts lying around " the only things i recommend, but it will cost you more money, is to powdercoat the frame first if you ever plan on doing it. if you're the kind of guy that wants your stuff powdercoated do it all in one fell swoop before you start wrenching. you get a better deal that way. arms, hubs, whatev..... and make sure the aftermarket parts are EXACTLY what you want. don't get works shocks if you really want elkas or don't buy a stock jug just cuz it's cheap when you want a 240 airsal. it's gonna take more money and more time. but in the long run you are gonna have a bike you love that you will most likely keep around for a long time to come even when you're done riding it alot because it's a keepsake.... not just a toy. and someone else said this too.... hydro brakes !!! lol.... |

and yea I got the brakes covered. I'd planed on using banshee front spindles, hubs and brakes and some steel braided brake lines. I'd say it's prolly cost around $100 to $150 for all the stuff I'd need If I got it off ebay. and the rear I'd prolly just find a new model stock blaster hydraulic brake setup. but it would be real nice if I could get a 250r rear brake to work out, not sure if it would though idk. and yea I'd deffinatly get alot of stuff powdercoated. we found a place around here that does a nice job and pretty cheap too. heres a pic of my brothers banshee after he got the frame and swingarm powdercoated from this place. it was only like $120 and included sandblasting the frame also. and he even got it done the next day
