advance timing means that the spark plug fires sooner than a stock motor would. To do it on a blaster you can either buy an offset keyway to move the flywheel 4* or you can buy an adjustable timing plate

Fuel burns at a constant rate. "octain rating"
Better fuel burns SLOWER than cheaper fuel!
Adjusting the timing is the way to "OPTIMIZE" the "combustion event" to the crank shaft position, you want "maximum" burn at TDC so that all of the pressure generated will produce torque, if it occurs to soon you loose power and cause undue stress on the crank piston and rod, typically seen as pinging, NOT detonation that's a different thing!
Fuel type/octain rating, compression ratio, and timing all work together, and if your timing is optimized to the others, then YES it can make a difference.

You can modify the stator itself with a small dremel bit to where you can change the time .....me and a buddy did our but didnt like it seemed take away from the top end.

Heres the link - http://z13.invisionfree.com/PlanetBl...p?showtopic=24

i used an advanced timing key on the flywheel and i had a noticable diffrence in takeoff power. it adds like 1.5 hp or something close to that!

This mod will advance the timing 4 degrees and costs nothing
To do the job properly you will need...
A flywheel puller, torque wrench and flywheel holder.

#1 Unplug the connections for the stator wires behind the frame tube next to the CARB.

#2 Remove the stator cover

#3 Remove the flywheel and keyway.

#4 Mark the original stator position with a scribe as in the pic (the red line marks the stock timing location)

#5 Next remove the stator plate by removing the two mounting bolts

#6 using a scribe measure and scribe a line 3mm to the left of the mounting hole location. This will give you a 4 degree timing advance.

#7 Using a round file or a grinding bit in a dremal tool widen the mounting holes 3mm to the line you just made.

#8 reinstall the stator plate and measure the marks you made in step #4 and make sure the plate can now be turned 3mm.

If you wish you can slot the stator both to the left and right so it's possible to retard the timing for custom applications .

THERE YALL GO!
